These beautiful vibrant birds are widespread along the coastal regions of northern and eastern Australia. The spiked brush like blooms of the Callistemon hold high amounts of sweet nectar providing high energy fuel lorikeets need.. The lorikeet  has a unique  bristle–like tongue used to lap up the nectar and pollen from deep inside native flowers and do not naturally eat standard bird seed.
