A Very Cheeky Giraffe – This giraffe’s long prehensile tongue sticking out (almost half a metre long) in search of a treat nuzzling at you to get to the food..Giraffes are unique for the brown and white pattern of their coat and are the tallest of all land animals having a distinctive gait where both legs on one side move together. 

They have experienced severe habitat loss as a result of human activity and degradation of their range and according to the IUCN  they have undergone 36 to 40 percent population decline (2016) and are classified as vulnerable of extinction, some subspecies have declined by 80%.  But good news is at hand as of the end of 2021 the estimate is that there has been an increase of almost 20%, still precariously low but room for optimism.
